Q: Is there ANY way to download the image from a GMB post/image to verify if the metadata is still intact? I haven’t found a way to re-download the uploaded GMB images yet…
A: The GMB Mega Poster extract all Media files URLs, so you can use that. But we know that Google strips all Metadata on Images upload but they read it on upload and that's what matters.
GMB Mega Poster uploads maintain the Metadata but image uploads from the Dashboard don't.
Should have been more precise. If you take the image URL from the Mega Poster and paste it into http://metapicz.com/#landing you will see the Metadata.
