I’m using the cadence that this particular soundtrack has been composed around. That is then used as an underlying theme that Bensound overlay a unique French island music soundtrack on. Composed just for my requirements.
That’s why I have given him my completed storyboard with timing markers that match what I require the cadence to be as I either build anticipation or remain neutral. So with a renewal theme if you can imagine swimming underwater next to a beautiful turtle, I would have that shot with its appropriate cadence.
Then I would lift the video out of the water to an aerial shot, the cadence would change again coming into the resort, if I was to then blend a beach side bar scene to imitate relaxation, again the underlying cadence changes. This method is used in a huge number of films.
Observe Hans Zimmer, his cadence is a constant uphill slow climb, dropping down every few sets, then building higher again. He is famous for it and composers copy his style profusely.
