Video Testing

The reason I performed this was to gather information. I had erroneously assumed that the software I was using on my question and answer videos, my trending topics videos and my news videos were responsible for a drop in subscribers. 

 

Also I had a few guys bitching in my mentoring groups that the end was nigh and they could not make money quickly. 

 

Then as videos are what I concentrate on now, and they are our biggest upsell with our rank and rent business, I needed a definite answer. 

 

Test parameters. 

 

10 cities for diversity. 30 different vets per city. 

 

Software. MugJam and Video Builder. Both using the exact same background. The only difference was with MugJam I’m using the concept of the vets in the practice headshots. Video Builder is using a 3D MiClone realistic avatar. 

 

First Test. 

 

100 different vets divided as equally as possible sent an email with a link to a concept video using MugJam. Then another 100 vets using the 3D avatar as a concept. 

 

Email heading is exactly the same for both sets of 100 emails, to maintain proper test parameters. 

 

Results. Open rates for emails are both about 7 percent. I thought it would be higher as I chose vets as they have reception staff dedicated to administrative duties. 

 

Of those open rates I had responses as listed below. 

 

MugJam 3 enquired. 

Video Builder. 0 enquired. 

Pretty pathetic results. 

 

So out of 200 emails sent, I had 15 opened and 3 enquires.  With that information, on to the second part of my test. 

 

Here I sent 100 mailed envelopes each containing a short covering letter and an flash drive. The drive contains a video overview of why using a personal message aided by MugJam would be beneficial to their businesses. 

 

First Test.

I also gave extra information about sending monthly or quarterly promotional videos, special occasions etc etc. 

 

This is why I’ve waited so long for finalisation of these tests. Mailing required a bit longer timeframes, especially with Covid effecting deliveries. 

 

Out of the 100 sent via mail, a nice return of 22 enquired. 

 

To complete my test, I then mailed to the previous email recipients, excluding the ones who had enquired about this service. A massive 3 businesses. 

 

Results of those 197 new mailings. 39 enquired. 

 

Note. In these mailing tests I only promoted MugJam. 

 

The test was for a semi custom video to be produced for each business and rented for $29US per month to that business. It was their responsibility to get that video uploaded to their own website. 

 

Included in that was a YouTube channel devoted to that particular vet, but always under my ownership and control. I’m building a niche related playlist siloed video network. 

 

Now I’ve got proper information to work on as to the acceptance of my headshot videos for my purposes, and a few more monthly clients. 

 

Just thought I would share my research. 

To keep the post short I omitted to add the covering letter has links to my website to prove I’m professional. 

 

Also a direct link to the videos that are on the drive. 

 

The drives are pretty upmarket and professionally branded. 

 

Just in case anyone is nervous about plugging in an unknown drive into their PC. 

 

The point is to get them to actually open and acknowledge the information. That’s 90 percent of the battle.
