I promised to answer your question better than earlier this morning about your YouTube views penalty using device farms.
I’m going to keep this simple as it’s complicated in its entirety and a lot is still not understood.
I’ve no idea of your keyword so I’m going to use “ ingrown toenails “ as an example.
Though I’m talking about YouTube, as we all know it’s owned by Google and there is considerable sharing of data between the two.
YouTube can tell you from their data virtually down to the individual IP address everything about the viewing data on ingrown toenails.
From suburb to town to city to county to state to country to the continent.
Times of views, types of devices, associated viewing patterns, etc.
Their database is huge and forms a baseline from which they constantly run probability calculations.
So let’s assume you purchase 200 views for your video from a device farm.
Those views to be spread over 48 hours.
Now when a mobile device uses a carrier network it transmits its number, device type, and a tad more information I’m not going into here.
The mobile signal is received by towers close by.
The strongest signal available on a certain tower is used, subject to criteria like capacity, availability, current handshakes in progress, etc.
However, these signals are also allocated to near towers in a queue for seamless handshakes just in case the device is moving.
This is how the device is pinpointed within a fixed geographical area.
So the device farm now goes to work on your video.
Probability calculations are triggered within the YouTubes system as there have never been that many devices looking at an ingrown toenail video from that area in that timeframe.
Not only that but the identification those devices are transmitting has already been captured as they were used before, for viewing say a GMB.
Now a penalty is applied to your suspect views.
In the best-case scenario, they simply remove a percentage of the views based on probability.
However, everything is now flagged in case of further anomalies.
I hope this helps. It’s as simple as I can make it.
Hence why I use hybrid videos to introduce chaos sequencing so that YouTube cannot place my keywords, just for starters.
